New York Theatre Workshop's former Playwright in Residence, Victor Cazares, has been on an HIV meds strike for *** 70 DAYS *** in an attempt to get NYTW to simply call for a ceasefire. 70 days with no response. 70 days!!! We've been calling, emailing, commenting, direct messaging.... NOTHING from NYTW. What a simple ask and what a joke of an arts institution. Playwrights, stay away from this theatre -- they won't care if you live or die.
A modern and well kept theater on Lower East Side with warm greeters, comfy seats and good lights and sound. Conveniently located in walking distance to many bars and restaurants. We enjoyed watching The House That Will Not Stand here.
Iconic venue with great staff. Everyone is professional, hard working, and friendly. One of my favorite theatrical spots in New York City. Highly recommend.
We saw The Half-God of Rainfall and we’re blown away. There really isn’t a bad seat in the theater — it’s very intimate. The stage itself was simple but effective.
Saw an innovative original production, and many more are scheduled in the 22-23 season. Prepare to be challenged and engaged. Appreciated the “subtitles”-captions on side of stage. Only complaint is airline style seating. But go-you’ll appreciate the thought-provoking, well produced show.
Merry Me was amazing!! Cute, intimate theater
Everything I've seen at NYTW has been top notch. I haven't been able to go recently (for obvious reasons) but I intend to keep going because of the trust I have in their standard and quality. If you see a play and it keeps lingering with you throughout the years, then you know you've seen something excellent—I have seen several here.
Small famous theatre where Rent premiered and currently Merrily We Roll Along musical is playing g. The show has a sold run. Good views from all seats about 15 rows. On East 4th Street near subway.
